Year End Appeal Letter Parkinsons Caregiver
Holiday Greetings!
On behalf of the Atlanta Neuroscience Foundation, I’m writing to share something very personal, in the hopes that you might understand the journey my family and I are going through, and perhaps offer your support. My husband, the love of my life, was recently diagnosed with Parkinson's disease.
The diagnosis came as a shock to both of us, and it has turned our world upside down. Parkinson’s is not just a physical condition — it is a thief, slowly taking away the man I have known for so long. Watching him struggle with everyday tasks has been heartbreaking, and the emotional weight of it is sometimes just as heavy. As a caregiver, I find myself constantly adjusting, trying to balance the role of loving spouse, caretaker, and advocate, while still keeping a sense of normalcy for our family.
The toll it has taken on me and our children has been immense. There are days when it feels overwhelming, when exhaustion sets in — both physical and emotional. I worry about my husband’s future, for our future, and for the kind of world our children will grow up in, knowing that their father’s life will be forever changed by this disease. But, despite the challenges, I remain hopeful.
We have been fortunate to receive support from places like the Atlanta Neuroscience Institute (ANI). But as we all know, there is still so much that needs to be done to find cures. That is why I am reaching out to you today — to ask for your help. With the guidance of Dr. Lazarus, ANI is doing incredible work in advancing research for Parkinson’s disease, and their efforts offer us hope for a better tomorrow. By donating (HERE), you are not just supporting my family, but countless others who are affected by this disease. You are giving us the chance to keep fighting, to keep looking for new treatments, and, one day, a cure.
No donation is too small. Every contribution makes a difference. It is the collective support that drives change. I have witnessed the strength and resilience of my husband as he faces this challenge head-on, and I have also seen how the smallest gestures of kindness can give us the strength to continue. Your donation can be that kind of gesture.
Thank you for taking the time to read this. Your support means the world to us, and it will make a real impact in the fight against Parkinson’s.
With sincere gratitude,
Jennifer
